Two weeks ago we came home from a long trip to North Dakota. We were all
exhausted. I
have lots to post about, we've had a lot of fun this summer and the
kids have both grown so much. There are a ton of pictures to prove it. I have a lot of catching up to do in every corner our life.
Of course, as luck would have it, the past week and a half has thrown us
a few obstacles which have prevented me from getting much of anything
done. Hopefully the craziness has subsided and we'll get back into a
grove this week.
Sam and I pulled together yesterday and accomplished a
lot and it felt good. We're headed out for some family adventure this
morning and I'm taking some much needed time for myself this afternoon. All the qualities of what goes into a successful weekend and will hopefully make for a successful week!
So we are re-thinking wedding plans, hoping to do something a bit more personalized than what we had in mind. One of the ideas we had led us to a unique organic peach, plum, pear and apple orchard outside of Sedona. It was really nice to get out of tourist-y Sedona for a couple of hours. Mabel really enjoyed running wild and free, literally. And I got some cute pictures of it.
It was a really cool place with lots of quirky things that gave it personality. The owner of the property is actually a retired soap star from General Hospital turned Artist/Orchard keeper! We've got a few more places to see before we decide but we really did love it there. If we don't end up having our wedding there, we'll at least be going back when the fruit is ready to be picked.
Get a load of this guy! That smile makes my heart just melt. Gus is definitely a little charmer and we are all nuts for him in this house. We can't believe he is going to be 3 months old in less than a week. He's getting so big so fast, I wish time would stop right here, or at least slow down a bit. He's such an easy going guy, all he needs is his diaper changed, a full tummy, and now and then a kiss from Mama, Mabel or Daddy.
I love how he sits in his little bouncer chair and observes me as I shuffle around the house trying to get a few things done. Then our eyes meet and he gives me the biggest grin, like "Hey, I see you Mama, you know you want to pick me up!"
Mabel turned 18 months this week. I swear every morning she looks older than she did when we put her to bed the night before.
Everywhere we go, people are always commenting on Mabel's style. She
loves helping me pick our her clothes in the morning. I will hold
something up and she will either cheer for it with a "hoot hoot" or give
me a "Nah" and push it aside.
She is talking so much. She loves learning peoples names but we haven't been able to get her to say "Mabel"until yesterday and it was the cutest thing. I was getting her ready for bed and singing trying to keep things fun when all of a sudden she repeated after me, in the exact same tone might I add, "Mabel Rose". It was so cute and I managed to get her to do it again for the following video which most of you parents out there know is not an easy task. Please excuse my vocal skills :)
So that's it for tonight. I've got a couple of cute posts coming up from our trip to an orchard we're scouting for possible wedding locations and an ode to Gus and the big 3 month mark.
