mabel's first ballet recital

On Saturday Mabel had her first ballet recital. She has been taking ballet for a year now and I've secretly been waiting for this moment. It was as adorable as I dreamed it would be. She was her usual self on stage hamming it up for the audience. We loved every minute of it.

week nineteen

Summer is officially here. We've been lathering on our sunscreen and spending as much time as we can outdoors until the unbearable Arizona heat really sets in.

Mabel: Showing me her favorite back-float.
Gus: He's a daredevil on his strider.

week eighteen - mothers day

Tomorrow is Mothers Day and it just so happens for this weeks portraits I ended up in front of the camera with my babies, which rarely happens and I'm always grateful for. I get very sentimental about these days and how quickly they seem to be flying by. Years from now I know I will hold simple moments like these, at the duck park with my little family, close to my heart.

Tomorrow I'm spending the day with just myself and 2 very special babies while Sam works most of the day. I'm excited to see the homemade cards they made for me and I'm guessing they'll want pancakes for breakfast.

Happy Mothers day!

week seventeen.

This week Sam and the kids continued on with our little tradition and planted a mini-garden. He took them to the store and let them pick out what they wanted to grow. Gus picked tomatoes and Mabel picked eggplant among other things. Since then each morning Daddy and the kids water the plants and check the progress of the operation.  The kids really love it.

The other morning it was so beautiful the whole family ended up outside just spending time together. I love spring mornings and this family of mine.

Mabel: She is a true naturist.
Gus: He's always getting lost in his amazing little imagination.

And a few extra pictures for good measure.

Mabel: Exploring.

Gus: Hiding.

week fifteen.

Mabel: She is always changing clothes and character. Her imagination amazes me. She loves pretending to be "the police getting bad guys" and a "majesty princess".

Gus: Every morning he comes running into our room and says "Surprise!" then after snuggles and discussion about his dreams he'll say "Sam, should we get Mama's coffee?"

week fourteen - gerald the goose and other friendly farm animals.

This weeks photos aren't really portraits but they count. And they just make me laugh... We went to visit Sam at work and there was a petting zoo visiting for the day! How lucky are we. Obviously we had to check it out because who doesn't love farm animals?! The jury is still out on whether Gus particularly loves farm animals, love is a strong word. Especially when a certain photo-bombing goose named Gerald is one of those farm animals.

Mabel: She had so much fun! She made friends with the "Farmer" he couldn't get rid of her. She chased chickens, laughed when the goats ate her hair, had a conversation with a duck, and saw a chicken lay an actual egg and shouted "Ok, that chicken tooted and an egg came out of her butt!"

Gus: Seriously the Goose would not leave him alone. It was hilarious. I love his all of his "scared but still excited" faces.
